Velma has been portrayed as lesbian for the first time ever in a Scooby-Doo movie.

Several clips from the new Scooby-Doo movie, “Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!” recently went viral on social media.

These clips showed Velma starry-eyed and speechless when she meets costume designer and evil mastermind Coco Diablo.

The clips finally confirmed Scooby-Doo fans’ suspicions about the character’s sexuality.

One viral tweet celebrated the fact that her being lesbian was now “canon.”

James Gunn, the writer of the earlier live-action Scooby-Doo films, has previously confirmed Velma’s sexuality.

He also said he was never able to showcase that part of her character onscreen.

Tony Cervone, who worked on the early Scooby-Doo series, previously confirmed that Velma has always been gay.

Cervone spoke about Velma’s sexuality in a post for 2020 Pride and said she’s always been gay, not bisexual.
