James Cameron has advised Matt Damon to "get over" his misgivings about "Avatar."
In 2019, Damon said he declined playing the lead in "Avatar" and a 10% profit-sharing deal.
The actor could have made over $200 million as his cut from "Avatar's" 2.9 billion-dollar revenue.
Damon had to turn down "Avatar" to reprise his role in the "Bourne" franchise.
In his 2019 interview with GQ, he revealed that leaving "Bourne" would have been problematic.
He also shared that he told filmmaker John Krasinski about turning down the "Avatar" offer.
A sequel to "Avatar," dubbed "Avatar: The Way of Water," debuted on December 16
The sequel has currently grossed over 400 million dollars.
Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, and Matt Gerald all returned to reprise their role.
