Gervonta Davis was recently taken into custody in Fort Lauderdale after being arrested on domestic violence charges.
The former world champion was arrested on Tuesday and will appear in a court hearing on December 28th.
Davis was scheduled to fight Hector Luis Garcia in Washington on January 7th but it’s now unclear if the fight will still hold.
Davis has won multiple world championships and remains undefeated after over nine years and 27 matches.
He also has a prior domestic violence arrest, for forcefully grabbing his ex-girlfriend by the throat at a charity basketball game.
He later admitted to being aggressive with her but denied ever hitting her because she’s the mother of his child.
Davis has a scheduled court appearance in February for his alleged involvement in a 2020 hit-and-run incident.
A Baltimore judge recently refused to approve a plea deal that would have sentenced him to house arrest instead of jail time.
Davis was accused of fleeing the crime scene, which involved a pregnant woman, and now faces 14 charges.
