Cherelle Griner spoke candidly about her wife, Brittney’s tearful homecoming on December 9.
Brittney had been incarcerated for several months in a Russian prison after being found guilty of drug-related charges.
The pair's long-awaited reunion was emotional as they sobbed when they finally saw each other.
"I was just holding on tight. I couldn't let her go," Cherelle said per People.
She added, "I couldn't stop touching her face. I was like: "Is this really you?" It did not feel real. It was chilling."
The WNBA star was released on a swap deal for Viktor Bout, A.K.A Merchant of Death.
Cherelle shared that she was on the brink of losing hope during the ordeal.
After Brittney came home, the pair spent their first night together, talking all through.
They are currently spending their time reconnecting with each other, exchanging their individual stories about their experiences through the ordeal.
