Supporters of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) have circulated a video showing journalists from TV Globo celebrating the results of Sunday’s presidential election (10/30), which was won by Luiz Incio Lula da Silva (PT). The network issued a statement “regretting” the position of a small group who had forgotten the company’s editorial principles.
Polsonario, like Federal Representative Carla Zambelli (PL), used the video to attack the station and criticized the lack of impartiality of the press. “This is an ‘excluded’ and ‘neutral’ press,” the parliamentarian wrote.
Globo has about 15,000 employees, including 1,500 professionals working in the field of journalism. The company, of course, has no control over the electoral choices of each of these professionals or how these preferences are expressed in particular ways, the statement said. .
Despite this, the announcer lamented that this group of people spoke during business hours. “However, Globo regrets that, in a work environment, a small group has forgotten, for a moment, the necessary and usual exercise of restraint with respect to the rules and our editorial principles,” he notes.
